The Half Marathon, Liverpool
07:13
The Factual Short is the final brief in the Production Practice module; it will be a 3-5 minute documentary of either a theme or subject which reflects Liverpool life. Initially our group was going to film in a home where there are people who need taken care of due to illnesses, however after getting permission of the business, we then had to get permission of all of the families which was too much for the employees of the business to do. Meanwhile, one of our team members who is originally from Liverpool new about an event named the "Half Marathon" taking place in Liverpool. Subsequently, we thought that we could film parts of the marathon a long with asking some of those participating in the marathon, why they are taking part, how long they think they will take to complete it and what satisfaction do they get by doing the marathon?
Before filming we had to plan the different locations we would need to go to, in order to capture different parts of the marathon. Furthermore the types of shots we want to use to illustrate the narrative too. We visited the website which gave us extra information about the marathon a long with an image of the track course which the participants would be running a long.
After looking at the map we planned for two of the camera crew to stay at the starting point where we will film a time lapse of the people entering the race. Along with the others to film further on in the race, as we will have to use two cameras to capture extensive footage. Meanwhile, we also planned to take public transport to enable ourselves to capture footage of the marathon at Sefton Park, whilst the others will film on the Liverpool Marina. The camera crew at Sefton Park would then go back to the finish line were we will film the end of the race.

The filming went according to plan!
We were able to capture everything we needed to by locating to different areas to capture the race. The scenery around the Albert Dock and Sefton Park in Liverpool added to the illustration too. We were able to interview people who were participants of the race, as they explained why they were doing it along with whether they have trained or have any experience before taking part in the Half Marathon. Overall I really enjoyed filming this project, as the atmosphere was fantastic when individuals were cheering the participants of the race.
